Navigation View in Microsoft FrontPage 2000
|
This is the "Navigation View" of Microsoft's FrontPage 2000. Each square represents an individual page within a site. Because of the size of the site involved, some sections are fully expanded (you can see all pages in that section or sub-section); some are not. The pages that are marked with the plus sign (+) contain other pages that are not visible. If you were actually in FrontPage you could click on that plus sign and it would expand to reveal the concealed pages. Pages that are marked with a minus sign (-) are fully expanded. Pages that are unmarked do not contain any sub-pages. The page that is highlighted in blue represents the page the writer is working on.The writer can expand the site map on the Navigation View to reveal the names of the pages s/he wishes to know. The writer also has the ability to scroll across from left to right if the information on the Navigation View is too large for screen. Thus, this interface gives the web author the ability to see the site she is composing as a whole. It also allows her to manage her site by renaming, adding, or deleting pages. The hyper-writer can also change the location of pages within the site by dragging and dropping them within the Navigation View. Links are maintained automatically when pages are moved. The menu on the left indicates other possible views.
